Chicken Heart Tacos

Offal, Videos — By David on April 1, 2009

Whenever we buy a full chicken, part of the fun is pulling out the giblets from the chest cavity. Usually these include the Gizzard, Livers, Kidneys and the Heart. We like to fry the gizzard as a snack and we’ve also used it and kidneys in salads, but — like the liver — we usually end up throwing the heart away. So to make up for all the delicious hearts we should have been eating over the years, we decided to buy a whole package of them.

my mother actually makes those on a weekly basis. but she just boils them. and eats them with another dish like chicken and rice. just add salt to em though.

    Your recipe looks pretty delish!!!

You two are completely adorable and I´m so going to try chicken heart tacos tomorrow.

When I was very young my grandmother still butchered her own chickens in the backyard. She was from Poland, and it was a way of life there. When we had a special Sunday chicken, I would always get the heart and I have loved them ever since. I like the gizzards too, but prefer livers fried up southern style.
